Interactive Revolving Monitor Affords Immersive Look Into The Future Of Mobility

The new EUREF Campus will provide Düsseldorf, the capital of the German state of North Rhine-Westphalia, with a new innovation centre focusing on “mobility of the future”. Located close to Düsseldorf airport, public transport and the motorway junction, the site will be home to companies, start-ups and research organisations. They will come together to form a new ecosystem in which they can develop their innovative and economic dynamism. This concept was developed by EUREF AG and has already been operating successfully for a decade in Berlin, where the local EUREF Campus is regarded as a real-life laboratory for the energy transition.

Intuitive and immersive access to planning in 360 degrees

It was Reinhard Müller, architect and CEO of EUREF AG, who came up with the idea of creating a European Energy Forum to deal with mobility and energy transition. Now a strategic and thematic extension of the original EUREF Campus Berlin is being built in Düsseldorf.

To illustrate and explain this building project, EUREF AG commissioned Garamantis. The task was to develop and create an intuitive and immersive access to the planning process for the general public. The resulting interactive installation was to be used at various trade fairs such as MIPIM. It would also be used on site in Berlin and Düsseldorf, where it would convey a vivid impression of both the extraordinary architectural design and the concepts for the carbon-neutral operation of the new building complex. At the same time, the installation had to be lively and dynamic. It also had to be able to be updated, exchanged and modified at any time with multilingual content.

Virtual tours of the EUREF Campus Düsseldorf

The result of this project is the EUREF Revolving Monitor – a multi-touch installation for the playful exploration of 360° panoramic views of the emerging EUREF‑Campus Dusseldorf. Using this virtual window, stakeholders and anyone else interested can now get their own impression of the future campus by rotating the screen and – by touching the designated points of interest – learn some interesting details. For example, how the nearby lake will be used to cool the campus in summer and heat it in winter – with a zero carbon footprint. The revolving screen can also be used for virtual group tours of the internal details of the architectural design.
