Digital procurement is becoming an interactive product presentation

How do the parts needed reach their destination on time? At the Procurement Future Showroom in Brühl, Lingemann brings the processes of modern procurement to life. Customers, staff and other guests can discover how real products, stock information and digital processes work together.

To this end, Garamantis created an interactive showroom measuring around 55 square metres. A multi-touch scanner table forms the centrepiece; a screen wall, real IoT products, as well as lighting and audio are all integrated into the presentation.

From an overview to practical application

At the table, visitors can explore company information and case studies and display them on the screen wall. An interactive configurator allows visitors to place IoT solutions within a simulated production environment and discover how they can be used.

This is how the space supports discussions with clients: hosts and guests can move together from a general overview to specific questions about procurement.

Connected products and building services engineering

Another highlight of the showroom is the integration of the smart C-parts dispensing system. These include, for example, wirelessly networked open-shelf bins or dispensers that are connected to a central ordering system via an IoT protocol. The system therefore knows at all times how many parts are in stock and where they are located, and when orders need to be triggered to prevent stock-outs. The multi-touch table uses the same protocol and provides detailed insights into the underlying IT processes. The approximately 2,000 high-performance LEDs, each individually controlled by the software, together with the 7.1 surround sound system, also contribute to the immersive overall experience in the showroom. A bespoke corporate sound and the introductory film were produced by the agency Mindconsole.

To enable potential customers to assess the specific benefits that Lingemann Services can offer their own businesses, the multi-touch table also features an interactive configurator that allows users to easily position and configure the IoT solution within production environments.

Manage content and control the room centrally

A web-based CMS enables the management of the intended content. The central tablet control system and the networked lighting and audio technology complement the interactive presentation. Products, media and building services are integrated into a single, cohesive system.

The project was awarded the German Innovation Award 2022 in the ‘Excellence in Business to Business’ category.
